Children’s Expressive Groups:  Groups are offered weekly. In a safe, supportive space we embrace each child’s creative potential. Children are offered creative, fun arts activities that provide new opportunities for self expression with the focus on building life, communication and social skills. Artistic modalities include art, storytelling, puppetry, music and drama. There are plenty of opportunities for participants to develop creative skills from exposure to new mediums, materials, and techniques. Call 978 203-9195 for more information about times and registration.

Family Sessions: We work with families who are open and have a willingness to grow. All family members are welcome to attend. We help to nourish seeds of hope with families. Each family is challenged to identify its strengths as well as encouraged to risk newer healthier patterns of behavior. Families are invited to restructure systems through the use of artistic modalities and creativity. Whether we are in the garden planting, in the kitchen sharing a meal, or in the therapy space creating art our goal is to build connections. Family members participate at a level that feels comfortable for them.

Parenting group: Meets weekly. Being a parent is the most noble, difficult job in the universe. In today’s society parents face an overwhelming task with so many societal barriers and stressors to overcome. How does one learn to be a parent? There are no parenting schools or parenting degrees. We believe that we have a method that works. Practice with us in our home setting. Learn from experienced role models who have walked the walk themselves. We listen, we care and we are non-judgmental.

We accept some forms of insurance. Families who are without insurance pay on a sliding scale, depending on their current income and financial means.

Expressive Arts therapists are professionals trained in both the arts and therapy. We are knowledgeable about human development, psychological theories, clinical practice, spiritual, multicultural and artistic traditions, and the healing potential of the arts. We are taught to use the arts in treatment, assessment and research, and provide consultations to allied professionals. Those in our profession work with people of all ages: individuals, couples, families, groups and communities.

We use the arts to:

  • Reduce stress
  • Encourage self exploration and creativity.
  • Recover from serious mental health problems such as depression, post traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, addictions etc.
  • Empower children of all ages who have learning disabilities, social issues or personal problems.
  • Build community in order to reduce isolation and make stronger relationships.
  • Guide people through the process of creative expression.

What are the benefits for those who participate?
You will:

  • Gain insight about yourself and others.
  • Improve your mental health.
  • Express difficult emotions.
  • Have a better sense of well being.
  • Get in touch with your spiritual self.

“Expressive arts therapy or creative arts therapy encourages people to express and understand emotions through artistic expression and through the creative process.”
